Torelli Tipo Uno

The Torelli Tipo Uno: The fixed gear bike has returned to its roots.

We wanted to make a better mouse trap. We didn't cut corners, making the demanding buyer (and we like to think Torelli riders are informed, serious and demanding) purchase all sorts of upgrades. We included the good stuff on the bike at the factory, when the total cost is lowest. Hence, we have sealed bearings in the hubs, an elegant treated leather saddle, choice of handlebars (more about this later), double-butted chrome-moly steel frame. It's ready to please and impress right out of the box.

A look at the geometry chart at the bottom of this page will show that the Tipo Uno has a relaxed track geometry, making it suitable for the road. Our retro-panel paint, non-obtrusive decal design and leather accessories recall another time when all the world was bike-mad and the urban speed demons, called "Scorchers", were riders on fixed-gear bikes. But make no mistake, The frame and parts that make up the Tipo Uno are pure 2008.

We also have a line of Tipo Uno fixed-gear bike accessories

Handlebars. You can get your Tip Uno with either track drop bars or bullhorn bars. Whichever style you choose, you also get your choice of bar width: 40, 42 or 44 cm measured center to center. We include the correct brake levers for a given bar.

Optional bullhorn bars with brake levers.

Frame and fork: Double-butted chrome-moly steel, tig welded. The fork is threadless with straight blades brazed into an investment cast fork crown. The head tube is 1 1/8" diameter. Threading is English. The rear dropouts have integral rear dropout adjusters. The top tube is 28mm and the downtube is 32mm in diameter.

Rear detail view showing dropout with integral chain adjuster (the screw pointing forward), all metal pedals and sealed bearing rear hub.

Wheels: Torelli 36-hole sealed bearing track hubs are laced with stainless 2.0 (14 gauge) spoke onto Alex DA22 double-walled rims. Tires are 700 x 25.

Gearing: 3/32" chain and sprockets. Front crank has a 46-tooth chainring. Rear cog is 17 teeth. This yields roughly a 70-inch gear.

Other components: All-metal pedals with toe clips and leather toe straps. Treated, riveted leather saddle, front and rear dual-pivot brake calipers with levers.

No need to upgrade the saddle. We've done it for you when we included this classic leather seat with the Tipo Uno.

Suggested retail: Complete bike with choice of bars $850.00
